WELCOME TO SESSION

Greetings from Richmond!

I’m excited to launch the first issue of my newsletter, and I hope that you will enjoy learning about the issues before the Virginia General Assembly.

I was sworn in to the House of Delegates on Monday, January 19th, and it has been non-stop ever since. I have been assigned to the Education, Finance, and Privileges and Elections Committees – with five additional subcommittees.

Legislation Updates

I was able to introduce a total of ten bills and they are now starting to be heard in subcommittees. I am pleased to share that my first bill, HB 1342, passed unanimously out of the County, Cities, and Towns Committee. This bill was requested by the City of Fairfax City Council and made two small amendments to the City Charter.

I also had the opportunity to formally present a budget amendment to the Appropriations Committee to request funding for the Urban Public Private Partnership Redevelopment Fund, which would benefit the conversion of vacant office space for redevelopment into housing.

Highlights from the Office

I have enjoyed meeting with a variety of advocacy groups and constituents from the 11th district. If you have the opportunity to visit during this Session, please make sure that you stop by and say hello!

JOIN US: Saturday, February 14th  | 9:00 - 11:00 A.M.

I am pleased to announce that I will be holding my first Town Hall meeting on Saturday, February 14th from 9 to 11 a.m. at Fairfax City Hall (Armstrong Street). I’ll be accompanied by Senator Saddam Salim and share the latest news on issues.

In the next few weeks we will be dealing with a range of issues that I know are important to all of us. Please do not hesitate to contact me to share any concerns or ideas.

Thank you again for the opportunity to represent you in the General Assembly!
